“Kyrgyz-Chinese relations are already at the highest level today,” Sadyr Japarov said. – There are no political disagreements or unresolved issues between our countries. We support each other on vital topical issues for each of our States. The high level of mutual political trust offers an excellent opportunity to expand and strengthen trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation between our countries. China has already become one of Kyrgyzstan’s major trade and investment partners, and the volume of mutual trade and investment from China to our republic is increasing.
The visit resulted in the signing of two and a half dozen bilateral documents, involving the development of ties in many areas of mutual interest, including science, culture, education and economy. Among these, it is worth noting in particular the investment agreements with China for the construction of a one-gigawatt solar power plant in the Issyk-Kul region, a fertilizer plant and a factory for the production of heavy trucks and special purpose vehicles. In addition, China announced that it will donate 300 million yuan to Kyrgyzstan.
“The funds will be directed to the implementation of priority projects within the framework of technical and economic cooperation between our countries,” Kyrgyz Minister of Economy and Trade Daniyar Amangeldiyev told reporters. – The projects will be determined by the Cabinet of Ministers.
According to the press service of the President of the Republic, the parties agreed to establish a new financial institution in the near future – the Sino-Kyrgyz Development Fund (KKDF). A similar structure – RKDF (Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund), which is currently considered the largest investor in the real sector of the economy of the Kyrgyz Republic, can become a model for it. The Chinese counterpart, as expected, could provide support in the implementation of major infrastructure projects.
