Jammu. Six people were killed and two others injured when a vehicle carrying power project workers skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district on Wednesday morning. Police officials gave this information.
The accident took place around 8.35 am near the Dangduru power project site in Dachchan area, they said. According to Kishtwar Deputy Commissioner Devansh Yadav, the accident occurred amid heavy rains in the area. Kishtwar Senior Superintendent of Police Khalil Ahmed Poswal said “Seven people have been confirmed dead and two others seriously injured in the accident,” he told PTI.
Both the injured were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital by rescue workers and local people, he said. According to the police, the driver lost control of the vehicle while taking a sharp turn and it fell several hundred feet into a deep gorge. Told that the vehicle was completely damaged due to falling into the ditch and six people in it died on the spot while another one died on the way to the hospital.
Terming the accident as ‘unfortunate’, Union Minister Jitendra Singh assured all possible help to the affected families. He tweeted, “Spoke to Kishtwar Deputy Commissioner Dr. Devansh Yadav about the road accident at Dangduru project site.” The injured are being shifted to District Hospital Kishtwar or GMC Doda as per requirement. All possible help will be provided as per the need.”
