In 2019, a Perm court sentenced Zyryanov in absentia to seven years in prison for extremism and willful destruction of property. He was tried for burning down United Russia’s Perm headquarters and drawing slogans on the building of the regional prosecutor’s office. Another Perm resident, Dmitry Strelkov, and four other youths, including two minors at the time, were involved in the same case.

Zyryanov, who had been convicted four times for theft, was appointed as the community’s ideologue. At first, all of the detainees that the court sent to the remand center agreed with the survey’s version. However, in the process, Strelkov and Zyryanov said that they initially slandered each other under pressure from the security forces. The public prosecutor noted that the defendants had not made any statement against the security forces before. At the same time, they denied the existence of a “Permian Nazi squad”, but admitted to having participated in the arson and the graffiti on the wall.

As Mediazona *** wrote, Strelkov argued in court that there was no extremism in their actions, and with the help of arson he wanted to assert himself and call on the public to fight corruption.

At the start of the examination of the case on the merits, all the defendants were released on bail. Dmitry Strelkov and Anton Zyryanov, whom the prosecutor offered to send to a colony for nine and four and a half years, respectively, did not appear for the verdict. As a result, the court sentenced Strelkov in absentia to seven years in a penal colony, and the previously convicted Anton Zyryanov was sentenced to five years in a penal colony. Additionally, the two were put on the wanted list.

As it turned out later, they managed to leave for Ukraine and hide there from the investigation. According to the FSB, it was then that Strelkova recruited the SBU, informed “Kommersant”. The Telegram Baza channel, citing survey data, wrote that in 2022 Strelkov and Zyryanov went to fight alongside Ukraine.

In December 2022, the FSB announcement about the exposure on the territory of the Perm Territory of the “intelligence group of the SBU”, which was preparing terrorist attacks and sabotage on the territory of Russia. According to the FSB, the organizer of the group was Strelkov.

As established intelligence officers, he and two other residents of the Perm Territory – Mikhail Sokolov and Alexei Gashev – prepared terrorist attacks and sabotage at socially important Perm facilities and infrastructure, and also supplied the SBU “another assistance in order to destabilize the social situation”. -the political situation in the region.” All three were charged with treason and espionage (Article 275, Article 276 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). At the request of the investigation, Sokolov and Gashev were arrested .
