Case against Navalny for extremism received by the Moscow City Court

The Moscow City Court has received material for a new criminal case against opposition leader Alexei Navalny. case card published on the portal of ordinary courts in Moscow.

Navalny is charged with six articles of the Penal Code:

calls for extremism, the creation of an NPO that undermines the rights of citizens, the financing of extremism, the creation of an extremist community, the involvement of minors in dangerous acts, the rehabilitation from Nazism.

Initially, only one article was indicated on the court’s website, according to which the politician is accused – the creation of an extremist community. Later, the database was updated, caught the attention of “Mediazon” *.

The card also contains articles that accuse the former technical director of the Navalny LIVE YouTube channel, Daniel Kholodny, who is in prison, of participating in and financing extremist activities.

Andrei Suvorov was named judge in the case. It examined the cases of top Inter RAO manager Karina Turcan and American Paul Whelan, who were sentenced to 15 and 16 years in prison respectively for espionage.

Navalny in October 2022 spoke of opening an extremism case against him. In April 2023, the politician announced that the case about the organization of a terrorist community was separated from this case in separate proceedings, in which he faces 30 years in prison.
