The leaders of the countries of the EAEU first hold a meeting of the council in restricted composition, then enlarged with the participation of distinguished guests. Among them is the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev. The presidents of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Emomali Rahmon will join the countries’ leaders via video link. The President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, will also deliver a welcome speech in the form of a video message.
According to news portals, CIS Secretary General Sergei Lebedev, SCO Secretary General Zhang Ming, State Secretary of the Union State Dmitry Mezentsev are also invited to the summit. .
The Supreme Council will discuss the implementation of approaches for the development of trade and economic cooperation with the main partners of the EAEU in the medium term on the basis of the results of last year, plans for the liberalization of various sectors of services within the EAEU, the results of monitoring the implementation by States of the provisions provided for in the rules for the regulation of trade in services, institutions and activities.
The Kremlin is expected to sign a protocol on amending the EAEU Treaty in terms of providing financial assistance in the implementation of joint cooperation projects by EAEU states in industries , as well as a set of amendments to the treaty on the EAEU – the so-called III Major Protocol.
It was also learned that Heads of State should submit reports on the implementation of the main directions of the international activities of the EAEU in 2022, as well as on the implementation of the 2025 strategy and information on the results of the work carried out in 2022 on questions of natural monopolies.
In addition, the leaders of the EAEU countries plan to consider changes to the rules of procedure of the EEC and a number of other issues.
