Kuala Lumpur. World Championship silver medalist Kidambi Srikanth has entered the quarterfinals of the Malaysia Masters 2023. At the same time, Lakshya Sen was out of the tournament.
Srikanth defeated world number 5 Kunlavut Witidsan of Thailand in straight games 21-19, 21-19 in the round of 16 match.
Srikanth will take on Indonesia’s Kristian Adinata in the last-eight clash on Friday.
Earlier in the day, two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu comfortably beat Japan’s Aya Ohori 21-16, 21-11 in a pre-quarters match that lasted 40 minutes. Sindhu will face China’s Zhang Yi Man in the quarterfinals.
At the same time, Prannoy defeated All England champion Li Shi Feng of China 13-21, 21-16, 21-11 in the round of 16. Prannoy will face Japan’s Kenta Nishimoto in the last-8 round on Friday.
Young Indian player Lakshya Sen, however, bowed out after losing 14-21, 19-21 to Hong Kong’s Angus Ng Ka Long.
