New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair the 8th Governing Council meeting of the Policy Commission to be held on 27 May. This meeting of NITI Aayog is being organized at the New Convention Center located at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The theme of the meeting has been kept by the Commission as ‘Developed India @ 2047: Role of Team India’.
In a statement released on Thursday, NITI Aayog said that the 8th meeting of the Governing Council of NITI Aayog, chaired by the Prime Minister, will be held on May 27. According to the statement, eight major topics will be discussed during the day-long meeting. These include Developed India @ 2047, thrust on MSMEs, infrastructure and investment, reducing compliance, women empowerment, health and nutrition, skill development and momentum for sector development and social infrastructure.
It is noteworthy that the Prime Minister is the chairman of the NITI Aayog. NITI Aayog has been created on January 1, 2015 in place of Planning Commission. Usually the full meeting of the Governing Council is held once a year. The meeting is attended by the Chief Ministers of all the States, the Lieutenant Governors of the Union Territories and Union Ministers as ex-officio members and the Vice Chairman and members of the NITI Aayog. Last year this meeting was held on 7th August.
