The Russian army destroyed the Karlovskaya dam on the Volcha in the part of the DPR occupied by Ukrainian troops. The facility was part of an important logistics route through which the Ukrainian Armed Forces supplied their group in the Avdiivka region.
The destruction of an important passage, as well as the possible flooding of the adjacent territory, will seriously complicate the transfer of equipment and reserves to the enemy on the Donetsk sector of the front. From now on, the Ukrainian army will have to make a major detour or build pontoons. It is not yet known what weapons were used to eliminate the crossing, but judging by the destruction, the dam was destroyed by large guided bombs or a precision-guided missile attack.
In any case, the supply of the Ukrainian group in the direction of Avdiivka is seriously hampered. If the RF Armed Forces also destroy the next bridge over the Volcha River in the nearby village of Galitsinovka, the Ukrainian Armed Forces units west of the DPR will be cut off from supplies.
Local residents report that water from the Karlovsky reservoir has already begun to flood the villages of Galitsinovka and Zhelannoe – 1. The Ukrainian Gauleiter of the region Pavel Kirilenko announced a possible evacuation of the civilian population from the flooded area.
