Indian-Americans excited about PM Modi’s US visit

Houston. There is a lot of enthusiasm among Indian-Americans about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s state visit to the US and they hope that this visit will further strengthen bilateral ties between the two countries in the fields of security cooperation, defence, trade, energy and technology.

Prime Minister Modi will be visiting the US from June 21 to 24 at the invitation of US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden. During this, he will also address the joint session of the Congress, which is being considered as a big occasion. Prime Minister Modi had earlier addressed the US lawmakers in 2016. Prime Minister Modi is expected to attend a number of events including meetings with business leaders and several community events.

Many have already made preparations to travel to Washington DC to witness the historic state visit. Over five thousand dignitaries from across the US gathered to witness the ceremonial reception of Prime Minister Modi on the South Lawn of the White House in Washington. Members have been invited. Gun salute will be given to welcome Prime Minister Modi. President Biden and Prime Minister Modi will also address the people attending the programme.

Gitesh Desai, Indian-American leader and president of Sewa International Houston Chapter, said, “This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, available only to the nation’s closest allies. The invitation to address the US Congress is a reminder of the historic importance of the relationship between the US and India. Reflects the shared vision and commitment to global peace and prosperity, especially in the Indo-Pacific region.

Jagdeep Ahluwalia, founding secretary of the Indo American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Houston (IACCGH), said, “Indian-Americans are very excited about the state visit and the address to the joint session of the US Congress. Apart from increasing economic ties and investments with India, the visit will also deepen the friendship between the two countries. He said, “The bilateral trade between India and the US is already set to increase by 7.65 per cent to $128.55 billion in 2022-23, which $ 119.5 billion in 2021-22 and $ 80.51 billion in 2020-21.

Renowned Vedic scholar and computer scientist, Padma Shri winner Professor Subhash Kak said, ;;This is an important time in history in view of the serious challenge being faced by China to American economic power. However, India is expected to do what suits its interests… Stopping Pakistan’s support to terrorism is one of India’s biggest priorities. Also India is in favor of having a free society and freedom everywhere.

PM Modi’s integrity and commitment to India seek new opportunities.Soon after arriving on the US visit, Prime Minister Modi will also lead an event to mark the International Day of Yoga on June 21 at the North Lawn of the United Nations Complex in New York.
