Russia’s permanent representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, speaking at a Security Council meeting on the Kakhovka hydropower plant on Tuesday, accused the Ukrainian side of blowing up the plant, informed CASS.
The Kyiv regime committed an unthinkable crime by blowing up the dam at the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, Nebenzya said. At the same time, Russia’s permanent representative to the UN denied all accusations against the Russian side. “According to the conclusions (that Russia itself undermines its objects), it exudes schizophrenia”, declared Russian diplomat.
“It is deeply disconcerting that the United Nations Secretariat repeatedly refuses to condemn the attacks of the Kiev regime, referring to the lack of information, such as, for example, about the bombing of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant by the Ukrainian armies, although it is obvious to everyone which side they come from.
At the same time, the leadership of the Secretariat does not hesitate to reproduce politicized conclusions that supposedly all these crimes are the consequence of Russia’s actions in Ukraine.
We call on the UN Secretary General to finally give an objective assessment of the terrorist actions of the Kyiv regime and to condemn them. We insist on establishing all the circumstances of the barbaric attack on Kakhovskaya’s HPP”, son Nebenzi’s words to the Interfax agency.
Russia’s permanent representative to the UN compared the explosion of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station dam to the sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipelines: “As part of the investigation of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, the United Nations does not should not repeat the errors, as in the case of the Ukrainian provocation in Bucha and the explosion of the gas pipelines Nord Stream and “Nord Stream – 2”, said Nebenzya.
The destruction of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, located on the Dnieper near the town of Novaya Kakhovka, became known on the morning of June 6. As a result of the dam breaking, about 80 settlements were at risk of flooding, the situation threatens an ecological disaster.
Ukrainian authorities accuse Russian troops of blowing up the dam at the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the dam structures were blown up from the inside and called the incident a terrorist attack. In the EU and NATO, the responsibility for the breakthrough of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station was also assigned to Russia.
