After registering a resounding victory in Karnataka, the Congress party is now eyeing to win the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly elections. Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Monday sounded the party’s election bugle from Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh. Priyanka accused the Shivraj Chouhan government of corruption and failure to provide jobs. Referring to the alleged corruption in the distribution of massive ration, he said that 225 scams have taken place in the 220 months of the BJP government’s rule in the state.

Priyanka said- In the last three years, the BJP government has given only 21 government jobs in the state. I asked my office to triple check it and found it to be correct. If we come to power in Madhya Pradesh, we will give women Rs 1500 every month, cylinders for Rs 500, 100 units of electricity free of cost, bring old pension scheme and waive off farmers’ loans. We have fulfilled all the five guarantees in Karnataka.

Taking a dig at the claim of double engine government, Priyanka said – We have seen many double and triple engine governments, but the people of Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka have given a befitting reply to this in the elections. On the other hand, the Congress has fielded DK Shivavumar, the architect of Karnataka’s victory, to handle the election campaign and elections in Madhya Pradesh.

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivavumar attended the Bhasma Aarti at the Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh on Sunday morning and then offered prayers at the Kala Bhairav temple. Shivwumar said that Hindutva temples and deities are not the personal property of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Shivvumar said that the strategy of the Congress for Madhya Pradesh elections is ready. But he refused to give details. He is understood to be the chief strategist for the Madhya Pradesh Congress in the upcoming assembly elections. The Congress leader said that this is the third or fourth time he has come to the Mahakaleshwar temple. Before the Karnataka elections, I had prayed to Mahakaleshwar and Kaal Bhairav for power. Now we have got power in Karnataka.

Shivavummar expressed confidence that the Congress would get more seats in the 230-member Madhya Pradesh Assembly than the 135 seats won by his party in Karnataka. On the assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh to be held later this year, he had said in Indore that the people of the state have made up their mind to elect a government with a full and clear majority while deciding on a change in power. Targeting the present BJP government, he said that the people of the state have seen the double engine government and the government formed by Operation Lotus and this government has failed.
