With the start of the Hajj season.. Necessary measures to prevent infectious diseases

With the imminent start of Hajj rituals for this year, many are looking to prevent exposure to infections or diseases that can be transmitted due to intense crowds and close proximity between pilgrims.

And the Presidency of the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques tweeted, on its official Twitter page, on Saturday, saying: “In the interest of your safety and that of others, we ask that you commit to wearing a medical mask and to adhere to the instructions of your brothers among the employees of the presidency and the authorities working in the two holy mosques. May God accept good deeds from us and from you.

As for the Saudi Ministry of Health, it called on Friday for “commitment to important preventive and precautionary measures and behaviors, such as maintaining personal hygiene, sneezing etiquette and hand hygiene, especially when infected with viral diseases, in order to preserve the health gains that have been achieved during the Corona pandemic.

Necessary procedures before traveling for Hajj

For his part, Sherif Hetta, consultant in preventive medicine and public health, told Sky News Arabia that the pilgrim must undergo a number of vaccinations and examinations before embarking on a journey to perform the Hajj rituals, in order to prevent infectious diseases, including:

Obtaining the Corona vaccine, by obtaining a dose of the “Johnson” vaccine, or two doses of any other type of vaccine, provided that the vaccination does not pass more than 6 months. Obtaining the meningitis vaccine, provided that the vaccination was not passed more than 3 years ago. Get vaccinated against hepatitis A, which a person can get from contaminated food. Do a blood image analysis. Liver function test, to ensure its safety. Renal function examination, to ensure the safety of the kidneys. Chest x-ray to ensure the safety of the respiratory system. Take a number of necessary medications, such as antipyretics, anti-inflammatories, skin creams and eye drops, for use in emergencies. As for people with chronic diseases, such as pressure and diabetes, their medicines should be placed in a small bag other than regular medicines and creams.

After the start of Hajj.. How to protect your health?

Heta also showed other procedures that the pilgrim must observe after starting the pilgrimage, including:

Take care of general personal hygiene. Wear a mask to protect yourself from respiratory infections. To be satisfied with the clothes of the pilgrim, and not to wear the clothes of others, whatever they are, especially with regard to the clothes of the ihram. Maintain distance as much as possible and avoid kissing and close contact. Always take water and drink plenty of it to compensate for fluid loss caused by sweating, given the high temperature and walking. Good nutrition, focusing on fruits and vegetables that contain water to keep the body hydrated, such as watermelon. Avoid cooked foods as much as possible, which can be contaminated or spoiled during storage. Focus on grilled foods, especially those that contain an adequate amount of protein. Drink fresh juices without sugar.
