Makes known the details of the disappearance of the bathyscaphe to tourists next to the “Titanic”

A hundred years later, another tragedy could erupt at the site of the sinking of the Titanic. Rescuers from Canada and the United States are scouring the waters of the Atlantic in search of the missing bathyscaphe, which accompanied tourists into the depths to see the legendary cruise liner resting on the bottom.

There are five people on board. Among them, 58-year-old British billionaire Hamish Harding. More than once he took part in extreme tours – he saw the Mariinsky Trench, flew into space.

“The hike will likely be the first and last human dive on Titanic in 2023,” Hamish Harding wrote on social media before diving on the liner.

Today we learn that one of the crew, Irish explorer Rory Golden, has made contact. On social media, he said that everything was fine with him, the mood was positive and the group was waiting for rescuers.

“I’m fine. Please don’t ask for names as it’s very inappropriate. Please don’t guess. I’ve seen comments on social media before that were extremely inappropriate and tactless” , follows the post of Rory Golden.

This is the third expedition to the shipwreck by OceanGate Expeditions, whose specialists are exploring the Titanic and at the same time selling vouchers for wealthy tourists. For a ticket of $250,000, the organizers propose to follow in the footsteps of Jacques Cousteau and become an underwater explorer.

“You can look inside. In fact, we go down where the front staircase was. We saw some of the chandeliers that were still hanging. It’s incredible. The front part of the window is still intact. You can look through the portholes and even step out onto the promenade deck. It’s truly amazing,” said Stockton Rush, CEO of OceanGate.

Five people is the limit for loading an underwater vehicle. The length of the liner is six meters, the air supply is enough for four days, two of which expired on those of the submarine. The rescue operation began on the eve of United States and Canadian forces. In this race over time, all available means have been used. But so far to no avail.

“After receiving the alarm, we launched the Canadian vessel Polar Prince and began a surface search for the submarine. At the same time, a C-130 aircraft was sent to the scene to conduct an aerial search, both visual and radar. Subsequently, we coordinated with the Canadian Coast Guard and the Canadian Forces to bring in additional forces and resources,” said U.S. Coast Guard Rear Admiral John V. Mauger.

According to one version, the Titanic’s bathyscaphe was “captured” by the Titanic – stuck in its wreckage. In this case, it is very difficult to find it. Major foreign publications are full of headlines. The Wall Street Journal is already calling the incident “another drama” associated with the sinking of the liner, which has “held the public’s attention” for more than a century. The New York Times notes possible research difficulties associated with water temperature and rough seas.

However, the rescuers do not lose hope, as do those aboard the bathyscaphe, including billionaire Hamish Harding, who will turn 59 on June 24. If the operation is successful, perhaps he, like the other members of the group, will celebrate his second birthday early.

Earlier, Vice Admiral Borissov in the reserve explained why not save the bathyscaphe that sank from the Titanic. According to another expert, Spiegel, the Titanic’s missing bathyscaphe is more difficult to find than to reassemble.
