Erdogan announced that Turkey was ready to make a “feasible contribution” to resolving the situation in Russia. How are other governments reacting?

Russian President Vladimir Putin had telephone conversations with a number of foreign politicians on Saturday (June 24) about an attempted armed “mutiny” in the country. In Kazakhstan and Iran, what is happening is called the internal affairs of Russia. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has announced that he is ready to help “guarantee calm” in Russia. European politicians are monitoring the situation, stressing that they continue to support Ukraine. How the authorities of other countries react to the situation – in the material of Russian media.

Türkiye

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in a telephone conversation with Vladimir Putin, announced Ankara’s willingness to make a “possible contribution to rapid appeasement” in Russia, transmits Anadolu Agency, citing the communication service of the Turkish leader’s administration.

Erdogan stressed the importance of maintaining common sense in the decisions taken, and also expressed hope for a quick and peaceful resolution of the situation.

According to a Kremlin press release, Putin informed Turkish colleague on the situation in Russia. Erdogan “expressed his full support for the measures taken by the Russian leadership,” the report said.

Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan

On June 24, Vladimir Putin also had telephone conversations with President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. In a short message about it on the Kremlin website said that the Russian leader informed his colleagues about the situation in the country, the details of the conversations are not given.

In the administration of the President of Kazakhstan reported that Tokaev called what is happening in Russia the internal affairs of the country, noting that constitutional order and the rule of law are an indispensable condition for maintaining order. Putin in the conversation “thanked for Kazakhstan’s understanding of the current situation”, according to the website of the head of the republic.

Press Service of the President of Uzbekistan informed that in addition to the situation in Russia, Putin and Mirziyoyev addressed “topical issues on the bilateral and regional agenda” in the conversation.

On website The President of Belarus does not give details of the content of the conversation between Putin and Lukashenko. Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic published appeal of the Security Council of Belarus, which declares that the country “was and remains an ally of Russia, fully sharing the aims and objectives of the NWO”.

“Any provocation, any internal conflict in military and political circles, in the field of information and in civil society is a gift to the collective West. <...> There has been nothing more terrible in the history of Russia than unrest – destructive and senseless in its essence. <…> We appeal to the voice of reason. <…> The people of Belarus have always been and will be with Russia,” the statement said.

European Union

The High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, in telephone conversations, “exchanged views” on the situation in Russia with the foreign ministers of the G7 countries, and also activated the crisis response center. Borrell also tweeted that EU support for Ukraine is “unwavering”.

The President of the European Council, Charles Michel, expressed himself along the same lines. He called the situation around Prigozhin “clearly an internal Russian problem” and stressed “unwavering” support for Ukraine.

The German Foreign Ministry has closely followed developments in Russia for the second day and is in close contact with international partners, German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock said on Twitter. She urged German citizens who are in Russia to follow safety recommendations. In particular, the German Foreign Ministry warned against visiting regions bordering Ukraine.

Prime Minister Georgia Meloni linked “instability” in Russia to what is happening in Ukraine and added that she was closely monitoring the situation, transmits Ansa in reference to the office of the Italian Prime Minister.

Iran

Nasser Kanaani, Spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry appointed events in Russia “the internal affairs of the country” and supported “the rule of law throughout its territory”.

Israel

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will hold a meeting with diplomats and law enforcement on the evening of June 24 regarding events in Russia, his office said.
