Effective Dinner Options for Weight Loss: Sabudana Khichdi and Oats Idli

Sabudana Khichdi

Ingredients

    • 1 cup sago
    • Peanuts
    • 2 tbsp ghee
    • 1 tsp cumin
    • 3 whole dry red chilies
    • 5 curry leaves
    • 1 tsp white rock salt
    • 1 tsp chili powder
    • 1 tbsp coriander leaves
    • 1 tsp lemon juice

Method of Preparation

    1. Wash the sago thoroughly and soak it in water for an hour.
    2. Add roasted peanuts, salt, and chili powder to the soaked sago.
    3. Heat ghee in a pan. Add cumin seeds, whole dry red chilies, and curry leaves.
    4. After a few moments, add the sago mixture to the pan and cook on low flame.
    5. Once cooked, turn off the gas and garnish with coriander leaves and lemon juice.

Oats Idli

Ingredients

    • 1 cup oats
    • 1 tsp baking soda
    • Salt to taste
    • 1 tsp green chili, finely chopped
    • 1 tsp asafoetida
    • 2 tsp mustard seeds
    • 1 cup semolina
    • ½ cup peas
    • 1 tbsp curd
    • ½ cup buttermilk

Method of Preparation

    1. Finely chop all the vegetables.
    2. Dry roast the oats and let them cool. Grind the roasted oats to a powder.
    3. Dry roast the semolina, let it cool, and mix it with the roasted oats powder.
    4. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. Once they crackle, add the chopped vegetables, peas, and green chilies.
    5. Fry the vegetables and then add the oats and semolina mixture.
    6. Season with salt, asafoetida, baking soda, curd, and buttermilk.
    7. Cover the pan and allow it to rest for a few minutes until the batter settles.
    8. Your nutritious and delicious Oats Idli will be ready to serve.
