Palestinian Hamas Envoy Plots Jihadist Sympathy Among Indian Muslims, Possible Protest Anticipated

Palestinian Ambassador to India, Adnan Abu Alhaija, is intensifying lobbying efforts for global protests scheduled for tomorrow, following the Jummah prayers. The protests aim to legitimize the attacks by Hamas as a response to Israel’s presence in the region. Concurrently, Ambassador Alhaija is attempting to galvanize support among Indian Muslims by invoking the Muslim victim narrative in India.

The current Indian government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has consistently condemned terrorist and extremist attacks worldwide. India itself has been a long-time victim of terrorism, particularly cross-border terrorism orchestrated by Pakistan. The government’s stance is especially significant given that Kerala is increasingly being viewed as an epicenter of Jihadist activities in India.

According to an article from Indian Express, Adnan Abu Alhaija has appealed to Muslims in India to voice their support for Hamas. A Palestine solidarity convention is scheduled to be held in Malappuram in Kerala this Friday under the aegis of the Jamaat-e-Islami, a hardliner Islamist party in India.

Another report from Swarajya Mag confirms that the convention in Malappuram is being organized under the banner of the Jamaat-e-Islami. The event aims to express solidarity with Palestine, and Ambassador Adnan Abu Alhaija and the Islamic University of Gaza’s Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Kamlain Shaa’ath will attend the event virtually.

In an interview with India Today, Ambassador Adnan stated that the attacks by Hamas are a “reaction to what Israel is doing in the West Bank”. He emphasized that he would not condemn the attacks by Hamas.

The New Indian Express and Business Standard reported that Ambassador Alhaija believes India, with its rising global stature, is well-placed to play a crucial role in defusing the Israel-Hamas conflict.

It is noteworthy that many Muslim organizations in India have not protested in condemnation of terror attacks like the Mumbai terror attack, the Pulwama attack, or Uri on Indian soil. However, tomorrow, after the Jummah prayer, several Muslim organizations, including Jamaat-e-Islami, Al Ummah, and All India Muslim Jamaat, have planned their sermons focusing on the Hamas and Palestinian cause. The Imams will address the masses and provoke them under the guise of human rights for Muslims.

This Friday’s special prayer session is set to include not just religious sermons but also political undertones. Attendees shall be provoked to chant slogans against Israel and possibly against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is known for his friendship with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Earlier, The Eastern Herald reported on the potential for violent protests in Bangladesh, orchestrated and lobbied by the Palestinian Ambassador to Bangladesh, Yousef SY Ramadan. This development underscores the concerted efforts by Palestinian ambassadors in various countries to rally support for their cause.

Indian Muslims, who have no direct connection with Palestinian Muslims, are being coaxed by these hardliners to raise their voices in favor of Hamas’ terrorist attacks on Israel. This raises a red flag for Indian security establishments, who should remain vigilant about tomorrow’s plans. The onus also falls on the government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to keep Indian Muslims insulated from such activities.
