The White House is putting pressure on Congress. The Kremlin appreciated the briefing on US security

The US President’s administration announced a closed briefing on a “serious national security threat” to force Congress to vote for a bill to allocate funds to Ukraine. As reported by RIA Novosti, this opinion was expressed by the press secretary of the President of Russia, Dmitry Peskov.

“It is obvious that the White House is trying, by hook or by crook, to push Congress to vote on the bill to allocate money. This is obvious. We’ll see what tricks the White House will use,” said Peskov.

Meanwhile, the Kremlin representative called to wait for this briefing to see if any information will be published afterward. It is scheduled for Thursday, February 15, in the US Congress. CBS, citing sources, reported that the “serious national security threat” refers to Russia’s alleged plans to deploy nuclear weapons in space.

Earlier, the Russian leader’s spokesperson noted that the “special military operation began as an operation against Ukraine and over time took the form of a war against the collective West” led by the US. According to Peskov, this will not change the objectives of the special military operation in Ukraine, but it may prolong it.

He also refuted rumors that appeared in the media about Russia approaching the United States with proposals to freeze the conflict in Ukraine.

On February 13, the Democrat-controlled US Senate supported a bill to allocate $95 billion in aid to Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan. This aid package is not tied to provisions for tightening border security with Mexico, which was demanded by Republicans.

Now the bill is set to undergo hearings in the House of Representatives. There, strong Republican opposition opposes allocating new funds to Ukraine.
