Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

The Reason – US Army finishes the construction of a naval pier on the coast of the Gaza Strip

The US Army completed the construction of a floating pier on the coast of the Gaza Strip, on Thursday, in preparation for the start of transporting “much-needed humanitarian aid” to the Strip, which has been besieged since seven months of Israeli invasion and genocide of Palestinians in Gaza.

The US Central Command said in a statement on Thursday that some forces installed anchors to connect a temporary floating dock to the shore of the Gaza Strip as part of a mission to deliver humanitarian aid to Palestinian civilians, as per the CNBC report.

The agency further added that the trucks are expected to begin loading humanitarian aid from ships that will arrive in the coming days, and that the United Nations will undertake the task of distributing it in the sector.

More than two months ago, US President Joe Biden ordered aid to the Palestinians who are facing famine, with food and other supplies unable to enter, with Israel recently invading and taking control of the Rafah crossing on the Egyptian border.

The sea dock is designed to increase the amount of aid reaching the Gaza Strip, but it is not considered an alternative to the much cheaper and more sustainable land deliveries.

American officials confirmed that American forces will not set foot in Gaza.

United Nations officials say that the violent Israeli military invasion of Gaza and on the outskirts of Rafah led to the displacement of about 600,000 people, or a quarter of Gaza’s population.

Another 100,000 civilians fled parts of northern Gaza after the Israeli army resumed further act of invasion contributing to ethnic cleansing and genocide of Palestinians there.

The Pentagon officials said that the invasion of Gaza did not threaten the new coastal aid distribution area, but they made clear that security conditions would be closely monitored and could lead to the closure of the sea route, even temporarily.

Israeli forces will be responsible for security on the coast, in addition to two US Navy warships stationed in the eastern Mediterranean, the USS Arleigh Burke and the USS Paul Ignatius, which are destroyers equipped with a wide range of weapons and protection capabilities.

Earlier, The Eastern Herald reported that the last round of negotiations in Cairo aimed at brokering a ceasefire to halt Israel’s invasion of the Gaza Strip, which has resulted in genocide and ethnic cleansing of millions of Palestinians, ended without resolution, further deepening the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Despite intensive discussions, Israel’s rejection of proposed terms for a ceasefire agreement and its subsequent ground invasion in Rafah indicate a calculated strategy to maintain leverage.

Also, the United Nations Special Rapporteur in the occupied Palestinian territories, Francesca Albanese, labeled Israel’s military aggression in Gaza as genocide, citing over 30,000 Palestinian deaths, including more than 13,000 children, and 71,000 injuries. She urged immediate sanctions and an arms embargo on Israel. Israel rejected the findings, maintaining its conflict is with Hamas, not civilians. Gulf and African nations supported Albanese’s report, while the US, Israel’s ally, abstained from the session.
