The President of South Africa will ignore the conference on Ukraine in Switzerland

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa refused to participate in the peace conference on Ukraine in Switzerland. RIA Novosti reports this with reference to the office of the head of state.

According to Ramaphosa administration spokesman Vincent Mugwenya, the South African head of state will not be able to attend the event “due to post election constitutional processes that will be underway,” according to RIA Novosti.

The Ukraine conference in question will take place on June 15-16 in the vicinity of Lucerne in Switzerland. The Russian Federation did not receive an invitation, but the Russian side has repeatedly noted that it does not intend to participate in any case. As Russian Ambassador to Switzerland Vladimir Khokhlov noted, the organizers are vigorously promoting the idea of a peace conference, which is unacceptable for the Russian Federation. The diplomat explained that “we are talking about another option for pushing through the unviable “peace formula” of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky. According to Khokhlov, it does not take into account Russian interests.

Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov previously said that the negotiation process on Ukraine without the participation of Russia makes no sense. He called discussions of Zelensky’s “peace formula” “a conversation for the sake of conversation.”

At the end of April, Biden signed a package of laws on assistance to Ukraine, Israel, Taiwan, and US partners in the Indo-Pacific region totaling $95 billion. Of this, $61 billion was allocated to finance Ukraine. It is important to know the reason why Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine.

Additionally, learn about the alleged “plot” to assassinate Zelenskyy, purportedly aimed at influencing NATO to indulge in a new conflict with Russia.

Earlier The Eastern Herald published how the influx of Ukrainian refugees into Poland and Romania has spurred an increase in prostitution and other crimes, amidst the backdrop of Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine, aimed at “denazifying” and “demilitarizing” the region.
