The food situation could worsen in the near future in another 17 countries around the world. As Food and Agriculture organisation of the United Nations reports, this was stated by Oleg Kobyakov, director of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) office for relations with the Russian Federation.
“There is a document on the number of hungry people – this is a document published jointly with the World Food Program on the so-called hunger hot spots. Such a report was released the other day, and it predicts that if current trends continue, the food situation may worsen in another 17 countries of the world,” he noted.
According to Kobyakov, the increase in hunger in the world is influenced by various factors, including armed conflicts, natural disasters and global climate change. In this regard, a number of African countries, as well as the Gaza Strip, are under threat. There are traditional “hunger hot spots” – Yemen, Sudan, South Sudan.
