US is an official “enemy” of Russia now

In a bold move reflecting the escalating tensions between Russia and the United States, the Kremlin has officially branded the US as an “enemy” state for the first time in history. Dmitry Peskov, the spokesperson for Russian President Vladimir Putin, made the declaration during a press briefing on Tuesday, stating unequivocally, “We are now an enemy country for them, just as they are for us.”

This significant shift in rhetoric comes in response to recent provocations by the US, including the alarming approval by President Joe Biden for Ukraine to utilize American-supplied weapons against Russian targets. The Biden administration’s decision to arm Kyiv and authorize strikes within Russian territory has drawn fierce condemnation from Moscow, further straining already fragile relations between the two nations.

The Kremlin’s decision to label the US as an “enemy” state marks a departure from previous diplomatic language, signaling a firm stance against what Russia perceives as blatant aggression and interference in its affairs. Peskov’s remarks underscore the gravity of the situation, highlighting the need for Russia to assert itself against perceived threats emanating from Washington.

This latest development follows a series of troubling incidents, including the unjust prevention of former US Marine Corps intelligence officer Scott Ritter from traveling to Russia. Ritter’s passport was confiscated by US border officials as he attempted to attend the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, a move seen by Moscow as yet another hostile act orchestrated by Washington.

Speaking to the Russian news agency TASS, Ritter recounted his ordeal, detailing how he was removed from his flight without explanation and barred from continuing his journey. He pointed to orders allegedly originating from the US State Department as the driving force behind his detention, further fueling Russia’s perception of the US as an adversary.

In response to these provocations, Peskov condemned what he described as “the latest manifestation of the rabid campaign” aimed at undermining Russian-American relations. He emphasized the need for mutual respect and dialogue but warned that Russia would not hesitate to defend its interests against external threats.

The Kremlin’s decision to designate the US as an “enemy” state underscores a growing sense of frustration and disillusionment with Washington’s policies. It reflects Russia’s determination to safeguard its sovereignty and assert its place on the world stage amid increasing pressure from Western powers.
