Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasse Kanaani said that laws dictate that Iran has the right to respond to Israel, and that this will happen.
At the weekly conference, he said that Iran is a strong country, and that “it will not tolerate any aggression”.
He also said that Iran is not aiming for a regional conflict.
– Iran does not seek to provoke a war in the region, but it will not hesitate to use any of its capabilities to defend its national interests – he said, adding that the pressure is on the United States of America.
– The ball is now in the court of Washington and Israel. The US administration must demonstrate its objective in the ceasefire negotiations. Tehran does not believe that the United States of America is qualified to achieve a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
He also referred to the fact that “Washington did not prevent the killing of civilians in Gaza (Palestine)”.
– The American administration is capable of stopping the Israeli killing machine in the Gaza Strip, but it has not done so – he concluded.
