Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has declared five days of mourning for Hassan Nasrallah.
He said that the blood of the head of Hezbollah Hassan Nasrallah “will not go unavenged”, writes the BBC.
Khamenei said Nasrallah was killed while “he was engaged in planning the defense of the defenseless people in the southern suburbs of Beirut and their destroyed homes, as well as the lost precious lives.”
Iran’s supreme leader said Hezbollah would strengthen even though the resistance front had lost an “extraordinary leader.”
Khamenei also expressed his condolences to Hassan Nasrallah’s family, the resistance front, and the entire Islamic community.
Hassan Nasrallah, the chief of Hezbollah, was killed in an airstrike by the Israeli forces on Friday in the southern region of the Lebanese capital Beirut.
Hassan Nasrallah was a political leader who served as the 3rd Secretary General of Hezbollah, succeeding Abbas al-Musas who was killed by Israeli forces in February 1992.
He joined the Hezbollah organization after Israel invaded Lebanon in 1982. He was elected Secretary General of Hezbollah on February 12, 1992, after Abbas Mousavi was assassinated by Israel in 1992.
