French newspaper Le Parisien claimed that an Iranian agent leaked the information about the location of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah to Israeli agencies. Later Hassan Nasrallah was killed in the Israeli attack on Beirut.
According to the report, the Iranian agent informed Israel that Nasrallah was planning to go to Hezbollah headquarters in Dahiyeh. The agent, who leaked the intelligence about Nasrallah’s location to Israeli officials a few hours before the attack, also shared when the Hezbollah leader would reach Dahiyeh. According to Le Parisien, F-35 fighter jets were kept in Lebanese airspace until Nasrallah reached the location in question.
The Chief of Hezbollah in Lebanon was killed after the Israeli Air Force dropped US-made BLU-109 bombs with JDAM (Joint Direct Attack Munition) guidance kits in the suburbs of Beirut on Friday (Sep 28).
“This was the biggest attack we have seen since 2006,” a Lebanese security source told the newspaper, Le Parisien.
Moreover, it was reported that Nasrallah went to Dahiyeh in the same vehicle with Brigadier General Abbas Nilforoushan of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps for an emergency meeting after the funeral of Hezbollah commander Muhammad Hussein Srour. According to the news, 12 commanders were present at Nasrallah’s meeting. It was announced that Nilforoushan was also killed in the attack.
This is not the first incident where an Iranian mole revealed top security information to Israeli Mossad. Previously, Israel’s intelligence agency Mossad hired an Iranian security agent to plant explosives in three rooms of the guesthouse where Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was staying.
“They are now certain that Mossad hired agents from the Ansar al-Mahdi protection unit. Upon further investigation, they discovered additional explosive devices in two other rooms,” a high-ranking official of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) told the publication.
