$400 million, Pink Floyd sells music rights to Sony

Pink Floyd, one of the legendary bands of the music world, sold its music rights to Sony Music for approximately $400 million. The band, which has unforgettable songs such as "Wish You Were Here," "The Wall," "Animals ", "Another Brick in the Wall", "Comfortably Numb", and "Dark Side of the Moon," has entered a new era with this sale.

Pink Floyd, the creators of songs such as “Wish You Were Here,” “Comfortably Numb” and “Another Brick in the Wall,” have sold the music rights to Sony Music for approximately $400 million.

The deal was eventually finalized after years of bickering and harsh words between the band members, particularly Roger Waters and David Gilmour. The deal only included the rights to their recorded songs.

Variety reported that representatives for the band and Sony did not respond to requests for comment on the deal. The Financial Times was the first to announce the sale officially.

The catalog was set to be sold for $500 million, and the band was keen on a deal in 2022. However, due to infighting among the band’s members – particularly Roger Waters’ political statements – the deal fell through.

Sony has spent more than $1 billion in the past few years on music rights outside North America for Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, and Queen.
