Israel Targets Civilians Again: Massacre in the Mufti School, 22 Killed, 80 Injured

As Israel's attacks on Gaza continue, Israel attacked the Mufti School in Gaza, which shelters displaced Palestinians. At least 22 people, including 15 women and children, were killed and 80 were injured. The statement made after the attack said, "This school was bombed even though it was not in the areas that the occupation[Israel] has designated as a war zone."

The Israeli army has declared a ‘state of war alert’. Israeli airstrikes on Gaza continue. At least 22 people, including 15 women and children, were killed and 80 were injured in an Israeli attack on a school in Gaza where displaced Palestinians are sheltering.

In a written statement issued by the government’s Media Office in Gaza, it was stated that “Israel has committed a new massacre in the Mufti School, where thousands of displaced Palestinians are staying in the Nusayrat Refugee Camp in the central part of the Gaza Strip.”

“IT WAS BOMBED EVEN THOUGH IT WAS NOT IN THE PLACES DETERMINED BY THE OCCUPIER AS WAR ZONE”

The statement, which reported that at least 22 civilians, 15 of whom were women and children, lost their lives and 80 people were injured as a result of the Israeli attack on the Mufti School, said, “The occupier carried out the attack knowing that thousands of women and children, whom it had forcibly driven from their homes, were in the Mufti School. This school was bombed even though it was not in the areas that the occupier had designated as a war zone.”

Recalling that hundreds of thousands of Palestinians, displaced by the Israeli army’s attacks that have been ongoing for over a year, are staying in refugee centers, the statement said that with the attack on the Mufti School, the number of attacks carried out by Israel on refugee centers has increased to 191.

The statement strongly condemned the attack on the school used as a refugee center and called on the international community to stop the ongoing Israeli attacks on displaced civilians.

A medical source from Al Awda Hospital in Gaza told AA that 18 people lost their lives as a result of the Israeli attack on the school and that many wounded, including children and women, were brought to the hospital.

In Israel’s attacks on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, 42,227 Palestinians, including approximately 17,000 children and 11,378 women, have been killed and 98,464 people have been injured.

While it is reported that there are still thousands of dead under the rubble, civilian infrastructure is also being destroyed by targeting hospitals and educational institutions where people take shelter.
