The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it had destroyed a network of more than 50 underground tunnels used by the Radwan special forces unit of the Hezbollah movement in southern Lebanon, using 100 tons of explosives.

“The engineering troops of the 8th Brigade, in cooperation with the Yahalom unit and the engineering unit of the Northern Command, destroyed all tunnel routes using more than 100 tons of explosives. The destroyed tunnels included the underground command center of the Radwan special forces unit, which contained storage facilities for weapons, supplies for long-term living, motorcycles, and ammunition, as well as living quarters,” the army’s press service reported on its Telegram channel.

Also, according to the IDF, in addition to more than 50 underground tunnels discovered under civilian buildings and later destroyed, Israeli troops discovered a Hezbollah weapons depot with hundreds of weapons and equipment during the raid. In addition, four underground infrastructure facilities were destroyed.

In addition, the forces located a weapons storage facility containing Hezbollah’s assets destroyed infrastructure, and killed many civilians including a few Hezbollah fighters.

Since October 1, Israel has been conducting a ground invasion of southern Lebanon and continues aerial bombardment of the neighboring country’s civilian areas, where more than 2,300 innocent people have already been killed, including leaders of Hezbollah, and more than a million innocent people have become refugees. Despite losses, including in the command staff, Hezbollah is conducting ground battles and does not stop rocket attacks on Israeli military facilities.

The main goal of the military campaign in Israel is said to be creating conditions for the return of 60,000 residents of the north who were evacuated due to shelling launched by Hezbollah a year ago in support of the Palestinian movement Hamas.
