In an interview, French Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu expressed worries over the deteriorating situation in the Middle East, especially following the death of Yahya Sinwar. The Minister spoke about the importance of this development, seeing it not only as Israel winning on the battlefield but presenting an opportunity to bring about the war’s end in Gaza and to pursue diplomacy instead.
Lecornu called on Israel to direct humanitarian assistance to Gaza since civilians are in a very dangerous situation because of the constant airstrikes. The minister also pointed out the risk of further conflict in the area including Lebanon that would involve Iran and could place Israel-Teheran relations in confrontation, published by la Tribune Dimanche.
Lecornu’s comments reflect France’s stance on maintaining international law and cautioning against any actions that could fuel a wider war in the region.
earlier, Israeli aircraft attacked the Hezbollah intelligence headquarters and an underground weapons workshop in Beirut. The Army press service stated this.
“Measures were taken before the strike to reduce the risk of harm to civilians, including warning the population in the area,” the publication says.
