Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said that Volodymyr Zelenskyy does not feel sorry for Ukrainians, his ambitions prevail, and therefore he is not going to end the conflict.
“He doesn’t give a damn about this, judging by his behavior. Ambitions have taken place. But this is no place for ambitions. Therefore, really – it’s not a pity,” Lukashenko told media on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in Kazan, answering a question about the prospects for ending the conflict in Ukraine.
Lukashenko further said that the end of military actions now depends “not on the collective West, but on Volodymyr Zelenskyy himself.” Recently, meeting with representatives of the West, I realized that they want peace, but they cannot put pressure on Zelensky. Because it was promised that there would be no pressure, there would be all kinds of support, the head of state said.
According to Lukashenko, the situation is changing every day, “today – seriously in Russia’s favor.” Speaking about the situation in the Kursk region, Lukashenko said: “A lot of Ukrainians died there.” “And it’s not easy for the Russians, of course. We don’t need to kill each other, and there are very serious shifts on the main front line,” he added.
Lukashenko further said that Russian President Vladimir Putin’s strategy of moving forward step by step, calmly, has had an effect, hence Zelenskyy’s slogans, which he calls a “victory plan.”
The 16th BRICS summit, which is the key event of the Russian Federation’s chairmanship of the association, was held in Kazan from October 22 to 24. On the second day of the summit, its participants adopted the Kazan Declaration. The main topics of the document include the development of the association, the position on global problems, and the settlement of regional crises, including in Ukraine and the Middle East.
The BRICS group was created in 2006 by Brazil, Russia, India, and China, with South Africa joining in 2011. On January 1, 2024, Egypt, Iran, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Ethiopia joined the association.
