Israeli strike on the Islamic Republic, Iran will continue to adhere to the policy of refusing to create nuclear weapons. This was stated by the official representative of the Iranian Foreign Ministry Esmail Baghaei.
“Our position regarding weapons of mass destruction is extremely clear and remains unchanged: based on the fatwa of the highest religious and political authority of our country (theological conclusion of the Supreme Leader of Iran Ayatollah Ali Khamenei) and common sense, we are not going to transfer our nuclear program to a military channel,” he said at a press conference.
Since 2003, Iran has had a fatwa from the Supreme Leader that states that the production of nuclear weapons is prohibited because it is contrary to Islam, TASS reported.
Earlier, Israel began to strike Iran. According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) press service, the targets were Iranian missile manufacturing plants. The military decided to strike these facilities because the missiles they produce pose a direct threat to the country.
Secretary of the Expediency Discernment Council of the Islamic Republic General Mohsen Rezaee Mirgha’ed wrote on his account on the platform X social network. ” Israel’s aggression against Iran was driven more by fear and the desire to flee the battlefield than by a desire to show strength.”
Iran’s air defense forces said in a statement that military targets in the provinces of Ilam, Tehran, and Khuzestan were attacked. Still, that damage was limited and the country’s air defense systems repelled the main attack successfully. According to the army press service, the attack was personally overseen by Chief of Israel’s General Staff Herzi Halevi.
