Malaysia has condemned the Israeli authorities’ decision to ban the activities of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).
“Malaysia strongly condemns the decision by the Israeli parliament (Knesset) to ban UNRWA activities in Jerusalem, Gaza, and the West Bank of the Jordan River. This is a grave insult to the international community and the integrity of the international humanitarian agency. Malaysia remains firmly committed to UNRWA. The international community must take immediate and decisive action against this so-called legislation to protect the agency and end the genocide against Palestinians,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Malaysia said in a statement published on the platform X network.

Earlier, The Israeli Parliament (Knesset) passed a law on Monday prohibiting the UNRWA from working in “Israel,” further hindering its efforts to aid the Palestinians in the war-torn Gaza Strip
United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warned on Monday that the Israeli occupation newly approved law banning the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) from operating within its borders and occupied east al-Quds could lead to “devastating consequences for Palestine refugees in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, which is unacceptable.”
