Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Turkish President Erdoğan calls Israel’s actions in Gaza as one of the century’s most brutal genocides

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan urges international recognition of Palestine and calls for unity among Islamic nations.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan called Israel’s aggressive actions in the Gaza Strip, which, according to him, have killed about 50,000 people since last October, one of the most brutal genocides of the century.

“One of the most brutal genocides of our century is being committed in the Gaza Strip,” he said in Istanbul. “In the massacres that began with Israel’s attack on Gaza, 50 thousand of our Palestinian brothers were martyred. Again, more than 100 thousand of our Palestinian brothers were injured in the same attacks. Two-thirds of our martyrs and injured are women, children, and babies. They imprisoned 2 million people in a narrow area of 360 square kilometers, left them without water, food, or medicine, and then just watched them die.”

According to Erdogan, “One of the best responses to Israel’s Zionist aggression against Gaza and Lebanon will be the recognition of Palestine by as many states as possible.” The Turkish president also called on the countries of the Islamic world “to put aside differences and support the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples in their just struggle.”

Erdogan also said that Türkiye has delivered over 85,000 tons of humanitarian aid to the region via Egypt since the start of the Gaza crisis. He recalled that his country had stopped trading with Israel and joined South Africa’s lawsuit against Israel in the International Court of Justice, as broadcast by TRT Haber.
