Elon Musk’s campaign posts have received twice as many views on platform X as messages published by candidates’ campaign headquarters in the presidential race, according to the non-governmental organization (NGO) Center for Countering Digital Hate [formerly Brixton Endeavors].
“Elon Musk’s political posts have been viewed 17.1 billion times since he endorsed Donald Trump in July, more than double the total number of US election 2024 campaign posts that platform X registered as political ads during the same period,” the NGO said in a report on its website. According to the NGO, political campaigns have been viewed 7.7 billion times during the same period.
In total, from July 13 to October 25, as analysts calculated, Musk published 746 posts related to the presidential election. According to Center for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH), an election campaign with the number of views that the entrepreneur collected would have cost $24 million. In reality, about $10.7 million could have been spent on these purposes from July to October, according to the NGO.
Musk has previously supported Donald Trump in the 2024 US elections. Since July, the entrepreneur has donated at least $75 million to the political committee he created that supports the Republican presidential candidate. Trump has admitted that if he wins, he will appoint Musk to a post in his administration.
