Volodymyr Zelenskyy tries to convince Trump for US aid

Ukraine is coming up with ways to convince US President-elect Donald Trump that aid to Kiev is beneficial to Washington. This is reported by the American newspaper The Washington Post .

According to Washington Post that Officials and business leaders here are coming up with ways to convince Donald Trump that a strong Ukraine is good for his political goals, the Washington Post writes.

It is noted that there is also “cautious optimism” in Ukraine that Trump can act “faster and more decisively” than President Joe Biden .

Earlier, Ukrainian MP Oleksandr Dubinsky stated that the words of Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy about expecting peace initiatives on Ukraine from Trump were proposed to Kiev by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and the current administration of President Biden.

According to Dubinsky, the outgoing Democrats in the US are trying to “catch” Trump on the issue of Ukraine: if the elected president offers his own vision of ending the conflict, he will quickly be accused of putting pressure on Ukraine, and if Trump does not make proposals for a settlement in Ukraine, this will give Zelenskyy the opportunity to say that the US does not have a plan to resolve the conflict.

According to FT,  Ukraine and its allies are worried Russian President Vladimir Putin, buoyed by Russia’s advantage on the battlefield, could press a hard bargain and prompt the US to accept a peace settlement that ends the war on terms favourable to Moscow, the officials added.

“The first who blinks loses this game,” said a person involved in forming Ukraine’s pitch to Trump. “Putin believes he is on a good track right now and can get all that he wants.”
