Biden’s final arms sale to Israel, fuels more tension

The US administration is preparing to approve a new $680 million arms sale to Israel at a critical time following the Israel-Lebanon ceasefire. Biden has sparked reactions with the arms trade he is preparing to make by playing his last card for Israel before leaving office.

The US is in the final stages of approving a new $680 million arms sale to Israel. The Joe Biden administration is close to approving a $680 million arms sale to Israel, the Financial Times reported, citing congressional sources. The sale includes thousands of joint direct attack munitions (JDAMs) kits and hundreds of small-bore bomb reinforcements. A $20 billion arms sale to Israel was also approved in recent months.

The US is preparing to approve a new arms sale to Israel. The sale includes thousands of JDAMs kits and small-bore bombs worth $680 million. Ahead of the official notification to Congress, US officials have shared details of the sale. The sale will take place immediately following the Israel-Lebanon ceasefire. However, US officials have stressed that there is no connection between the sale process and the ceasefire.

The US approved a massive $20 billion arms sale to Israel in August. This sale included 50 F-15IA fighter jets, 25 F-15I fighter jet modernization kits, and hundreds of tank and artillery ammunition. Now, a new $680 million sales package once again reveals the magnitude of US arms sales to Israel.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the arms sale was seen as a “condition” for the Israel-Lebanon ceasefire. It is alleged that Israel signed the ceasefire after Biden gave the green light to the arms sale. However, US officials denied this connection and stated that there was no connection between the arms sale process and the ceasefire.

US Senator Bernie Sanders has introduced three separate bills to block arms sales to Israel, but these bills were not passed. Sanders had argued that the sales should be blocked because of Israel’s actions in Gaza.
