US denies Amnesty International’s claim of genocide by Israel in Gaza

The US State Department announced that it did not accept Amnesty International’s claims that “Israel is committing genocide in Gaza” and that it did not conclude that the crime of genocide was committed.

The US State Department has rejected the report published by Amnesty International titled “Israel Committing Genocide in Gaza”. The department stated that they did not conclude that Israel committed the crime of genocide in Gaza. The report stated that Israel caused civilian casualties and infrastructure damage during its military operations in Gaza.

US State Department Deputy Spokesperson Vedant Patel assessed the latest situation in Gaza and the latest Amnesty International report accusing Israel.

The US spokesman defended the newly published report of Amnesty International, which reveals Israel’s genocidal intent and crimes in Gaza, as unacceptable.

Patel said, “I have seen the news about the report, we do not agree with the conclusions reached by such a report. We have said before that the genocide allegations are baseless.”

According to Middle East Monitor, “We disagree with the conclusions of such a report. We have said previously and continue to find the allegations of genocide to be unfounded,” State Department deputy spokesman, Vedant Patel, told reporters.

Reminding that Israel’s compliance with international humanitarian law is a moral and strategic priority, the Deputy Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs commented: “This is an issue that we will continue to raise directly with Israel.”

According to a report prepared by Amnesty International, Israel’s actions in Gaza and the authorities’ statements reveal its genocidal intent and crime.

The organization’s report titled “You Feel Like a Sub-Human: Israel’s Genocide Against Palestinians in Gaza” stated that Israel continued its attacks on Gaza, which it launched after October 7, 2023, without any accountability.

The report, which examined Israel’s attacks on Gaza, assessed the loss of life and the extent of the destruction and also found that high-level officials had requested actions prohibited by international law.

The report, which stated that it is not necessary for a group to be partially or completely destroyed for the crime of genocide and that genocidal intent is sufficient, examined Israel’s actions in Gaza between October 7, 2023, and July 2024.

While preparing the report, 212 people were interviewed and visual evidence, including satellite photos, was considered.

In this context, the statements of Israeli government officials and military officials were also evaluated and reports on these statements were submitted to Israel. Amnesty International reported that there was no response from Israel.

According to Reuters, Amnesty International accused the state of Israel of committing genocide against Palestinians in the Gaza war in a report published on Thursday, an allegation Israel angrily denied.

According to PBS, “Our damning findings must serve as a wake-up call to the international community: this is genocide. It must stop now,” Agnès Callamard, Secretary General of Amnesty International, said in the report.
