The future special envoy of the United States for Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg, has postponed his visit to Ukraine until after the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump, according to four sources with knowledge of the trip’s planning.
“Trump’s new special envoy to Ukraine has postponed a fact-finding trip to Kyiv and other European capitals until after Trump’s inauguration on January 20.”
It is noted that Trump’s future special representative for Ukraine and Russia, Kellogg, initially planned a trip to Kyiv to meet with Ukrainian leaders in early January.
However, the trip was postponed for unknown reasons, sources said.
Kellogg is expected to visit Ukraine after Trump takes office, although the date has not yet been set.
According to Reuters, Trump repeatedly said on the campaign trail that he could solve the war in Ukraine within 24 hours of taking office, but he has made little progress toward that end. Still, attempting to quickly wind down the conflict remains a key priority of his incoming administration.
Previously, political strategist Mikhail Pavliv stated that Ukrainian troops could attempt a counteroffensive in the Kursk region in order to demonstrate their capabilities in anticipation of the visit to Kyiv of Washington’s future special envoy Keith Kellogg.
Earlier, the West warned about the onset of the most dangerous period of the Ukrainian conflict.
