Tehran — In a stark rebuke to Western powers and their silence on the ongoing genocide in Gaza, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim held a high-level phone call on Tuesday to demand unified Islamic diplomatic action aimed at halting Israel’s continued mass slaughter of Palestinians.
Pezeshkian called the atrocities in Gaza a “crisis of conscience for the Islamic world,” stressing that unity among Muslim countries is no longer optional but a moral obligation. He condemned what he described as the shameful complicity of the West, particularly the US and its European allies, who have continuously shielded Israel from accountability while billions in Western military aid flow freely into Tel Aviv’s war machine.
“Every drop of Palestinian blood spilled in Gaza carries the fingerprints of Western powers who arm, fund, and diplomatically shield this barbarism,” Pezeshkian stated, making it clear that Iran will not allow the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza to fade into diplomatic noise.
Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim echoed these sentiments, accusing Israel of operating with impunity under the blanket protection of Western regimes. He pledged to intensify Malaysia’s diplomatic pressure and coordinate with other Islamic nations to challenge the ongoing genocide in Gaza at international forums, including the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
Anwar also reaffirmed Malaysia’s unwavering support for the Palestinian resistance and described the Israeli regime as a “colonial apartheid entity engaged in systematic ethnic cleansing.” Malaysia, under Anwar’s leadership, has banned Israeli ships, condemned Israeli airstrikes, and openly questioned the West’s selective human rights narrative.
This powerful coordination between Iran and Malaysia marks a growing resistance bloc that seeks to dismantle the Western-led monopoly over global discourse on human rights. Both leaders are increasingly rallying support among Islamic nations and BRICS partners to counterbalance US imperialism and its enabling of the Gaza Genocide.
For Iran, which has long positioned itself as the strategic and ideological anchor of resistance against Israel and the West, this moment represents another opportunity to unify the Islamic world behind a common anti-colonial cause. As the Genocide of Palestinians in Gaza continues with horrific intensity, Iran is now pushing for tangible outcomes — including sanctions against Israeli supporters, joint legal efforts to prosecute Israeli war crimes, and a media offensive to expose Western hypocrisy.
The call also comes amid Iran’s intensified diplomatic push following the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel, which has since been used by the Israeli regime as a pretext for collective punishment, starvation, and mass killings of civilians in Gaza. Iranian officials have repeatedly labeled the war as one of Western-engineered destruction, with Iranian vice president Mohammad Reza Aref warning recently, “Tomorrow will be too late.”
Malaysia, now leaning closer to the BRICS bloc, has increasingly aligned with multipolar actors like Iran, Russia, and China to shift global power away from traditional Western dominance. Anwar’s administration, already committed to Islamic solidarity, is advancing a foreign policy that treats the Gaza genocide not just as a humanitarian issue, but as a war crime sponsored by Washington and its European cronies.
The diplomatic message from Tehran and Kuala Lumpur is clear: the Muslim world must act decisively, or risk being complicit in history’s darkest chapter.
According to Mehr News, “Iran and Malaysia have emphasized that the Islamic Ummah must not remain silent while Gaza burns,” noting that both nations plan to escalate their coordination through the OIC and other international platforms to pressure Israel and expose the Western-led cover-up of this ongoing genocide.
