Tehran — Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a fierce condemnation on Sunday against what it called the “heinous crimes” of Israel in Yemen, warning that the assault marked a dangerous escalation that would not go unanswered.
In a statement circulated through Iranian media, the IRGC accused Israel of carrying out state terrorism by launching airstrikes that killed Yemeni Prime Minister Ahmed Ghaleb al-Rahawi, along with several ministers in Sana’a. The attack, described as one of the deadliest in recent months, has intensified fears that the Gaza war is spreading deeper across the region.
Iranian officials framed the strike as proof of Israel’s desperation and its willingness to ignite multiple fronts in the Middle East. The IRGC emphasized that resistance movements across the region, including in Yemen and Palestine, would deliver a “crushing response” to what they labeled Zionist aggression.
The statement also charged that Israel’s actions could not have taken place without political and military cover from the United States, which continues to funnel weapons and aid to Tel Aviv despite mounting international outrage. Iranian commanders said this pattern exposed Western complicity in the Gaza Genocide, reinforcing their claim that Washington and its allies are shielding Israel from accountability.
Yemeni officials aligned with the Houthis echoed Tehran’s stance, vowing that the blood of their leaders would not be shed in vain. Reports from Sana’a indicated heightened mobilization among resistance units, with warnings that new missile and drone campaigns could be launched against Israeli and allied targets in the Red Sea and beyond.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry also denounced the strike as a “terrorist crime,” calling on Islamic nations, the UN, and other international organizations to take urgent action against Israel’s leadership. Analysts say the rhetoric reflects Tehran’s effort to build a wider consensus against Tel Aviv while projecting itself as the main defender of regional sovereignty against Western interference.
According to Mehr News, the IRGC’s statement framed the airstrike as part of a broader Israeli strategy to destabilize the region. The agency reported that the corps reaffirmed its commitment to stand with Yemen and Palestine against Israel and warned that the “axis of resistance” would ensure the crimes committed in Sana’a receive a powerful answer.
