From Kaliyuga to Conscious Living: Anoop Shanker Madan’s 12-Book Series Brings Ancient Indian Wisdom into Modern Life

New Delhi: For third-generation entrepreneur, author and consciousness explorer Anoop Shanker Madan, the questions of modern life extend beyond professional success and material achievement. Through his writing and his work with Kaliyuga Gurukul for Conscious Learning, he is exploring how ancient Indian wisdom can be understood and applied in the context of contemporary life.

At the centre of this effort is The Kaliyuga Series, a planned collection of 12 books that explores themes including self-awareness, choices, wisdom, relationships, leadership, responsibility, inner growth and self-realisation. Drawing inspiration from the Bhagavad Gita, the Upanishads, Shiva, Krishna and broader Indian philosophical traditions, the series seeks to present these ideas in a simple and relatable format for modern readers.

The first book, Kaliyuga: The Opportunity to Walk on the Path of Gyan, presents Kaliyuga not only as an age associated with challenges and confusion, but as an opportunity for introspection and spiritual learning. The subsequent books expand this exploration into different dimensions of life, from the balance between inner stillness and conscious action in The Silence of Shiva and The Song of Krishna to the role of choices in BCD: Birth, Choices, Death.

The series then moves through themes of spiritual learning, everyday wisdom and purposeful living. The Choices of Great Masters draws lessons from 21 spiritual leaders and thinkers, while Life Connection with Upanishad presents 118 core wisdom points inspired by the Upanishads for contemporary reflection. The Four Dhams of Life explores Bhakti, Raja, Gyan and Karma as different dimensions of an individual’s inner journey.

The later books take these philosophical ideas into areas that are closely connected with everyday decision-making and modern life. The 12 Flames of Shiva explores the twelve Jyotirlingas through the virtues and principles they represent for a spiritual seeker. The Invisible Connections of Life looks at relationships, decisions and personal growth, while The Conscious Leader takes the conversation into leadership and organisations, examining leadership through self-awareness and integrity.

The final books in the series focus further on personal mastery and responsibility. 7 Horses: Controlling Life uses the traditional chariot metaphor to explore the relationship between the senses, mind, intellect, emotions, desires, habits and awareness. Responsibility: What Life Entrusts to Us examines responsibility as a source of purpose and growth, while The 7 Energy Centres explores inner energy, emotions, confidence, wisdom and inner balance.

For Anoop, the purpose of the series is not simply to revisit ancient texts, but to encourage readers to reflect on how timeless ideas can influence the way they live, choose, lead and relate to others.

“Education is not only for livelihood. My dream is to create a world where every child is emotionally strong, every teacher is conscious, every family is value-based, and every leader is responsible.”

His approach is also reflected in the philosophy behind Kaliyuga Gurukul, which he founded with the aim of making values-based learning and the wisdom of Sanatana Dharma more accessible to people of different ages and backgrounds.

As Managing Director of Simplicity Projects Pvt. Ltd., Anoop also comes from a business background, giving his work an unusual intersection between entrepreneurship and philosophical inquiry. His writing attempts to bring questions of awareness, purpose and responsibility into conversations that extend beyond spiritual settings and into family life, education, professional environments and leadership.

Rather than presenting the 12 books as isolated works, Anoop sees them as parts of one broader journey. Each book is designed to stand independently while contributing to a larger progression from awareness and self-inquiry towards wisdom, purposeful action, leadership and responsibility.

The underlying idea is that information alone does not necessarily lead to wisdom. For Madan, conscious living begins when individuals start examining their choices, understand their responsibilities and reflect on the principles that shape their lives. Through the series, he hopes to motivate readers to move beyond simply acquiring knowledge and towards a more reflective approach to living.
