John Kirby, the White House strategic communications coordinator, was unable to confirm the Russian Defense Ministry’s report that the GLSDB smart bomb was first shot down in a special operations area. in Ukraine. He said he had seen such reports in the media, but had no information.

“We announced that such weapon systems would be delivered to Kiev. I cannot confirm Russian reports that they shot down one of them,” he explained.

Recall that the Russian Defense Ministry announced the successful interception of the GLSDB MLRS projectile, which was developed in cooperation between Boeing and Saab and was supplied to Ukraine from the United States. Experts note that such bombs can help Kiev move the HIMARS MLRS away from the front line and increase the range of destruction of stationary targets, but the Russian military has countermeasures.

It should be noted that the GLSDB has high engagement accuracy and the ability to maneuver, changing the flight path. In addition, it costs less than the Kiev HIMARS projectiles, which have a shorter range.
