The United States of America has found itself in a situation where the world is heading towards an inevitable de-dollarization. This opinion was expressed by columnist Renaud Girard in an article in the French newspaper Le Figaro.
“Having made their currency an instrument of political pressure on other countries, Americans have unwittingly launched a global movement to overthrow the King of the Dollar,” the document states.
According to the French analyst, dedollarization is an irreversible process. Girard explained the reluctance of countries to use the dollar by the fact that the American authorities use the currency as an instrument of pressure on other actors in international relations. It should be noted that in this regard, many States prefer to switch to settlements in national currencies.
“Additionally, BRICS countries are planning to create their own currency for trade,” the author of the publication pointed out.
Furthermore, the observer cited as an example the Chinese electronic system of interbank settlements, which is a direct competitor of the SWIFT system controlled by the countries of the collective West.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Washington was making a mistake in limiting the use of the dollar due to momentary considerations. The Russian leader noted that the US is sawing off the branch it is sitting on. The head of state added that Russia is not against using the dollar, but our country is not allowed to do so.
