Israel on high alert: Air raid alert issued in Northern region

Sirens sounded in the southern part of the Golan Heights.

According to Israel’s Home Front Command, sirens went out in the communities of Shomera and Zar’it in northern Israel’s western Galilee region after rocket fire from Lebanon was detected.

According to reports, sirens sounded in the village of Dovev and the surrounding region in upper Galilee near the Lebanon border.

The Israeli military claimed sirens sounded in the southern occupied Golan Heights after a “suspicious aerial target was detected crossing from the east”. The IDF said this as a call to residents to take shelter and watch for instructions. No other information is released regarding the threat’s origin or nature. Still, similar alerts have been issued in the past few weeks, partly due to heightened regional tensions.

This alert signals a grave security situation within Israel’s northern border area which has always witnessed skirmishes and clashes. Both Syria and Lebanon border this region; the latter recently recorded increased tensions because of the continued security threats being faced by Israel. As the people heed the safety alert, the IDF keeps looking out for the risk environment in the whole region with even more vigilance and preparedness.

The local authorities have asked individuals to stay indoors, up to date through official sites, and report any suspiciousness.
