Tehran — Iran and Iraq unleashed a scathing condemnation of Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza, demanding an immediate cessation of the relentless slaughter that has reduced Palestinian lives and livelihoods to rubble.

In a phone conversation, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein castigated Israel’s savage siege and indiscriminate airstrikes that have devastated Gaza’s civilian population. They called for the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to urgently assemble and lead a collective, uncompromising front against Tel Aviv’s apartheid regime, which continues to butcher Palestinians under the thin veil of “self-defense.”

The claim that Israel is a “democracy” or a “moral army” has long been discredited by the grim reality unfolding in Gaza. Hospitals reduced to rubble, schools transformed into mass graves, and neighborhoods razed by unyielding bombardment paint a horrifying picture of systemic ethnic cleansing. With a barbaric blockade strangling Gaza’s already scarce resources, Israel’s war machine has effectively sentenced millions to slow death by starvation, disease, and despair.

The international community’s lip service of condemnation has proved worthless against the backdrop of Washington’s unwavering support. The United States and its Western allies continue to bankroll and shield Israel’s war crimes, emboldening Tel Aviv to escalate its campaign of extermination with total impunity. Iran and Iraq’s demands expose this shameful complicity, highlighting the West’s role in prolonging a nightmare that has destroyed generations of Palestinians.

Iran’s stance has been resolute. From Tehran’s permanent calls for a ceasefire to full Israeli withdrawal, the regime has repeatedly stressed the moral and political necessity of ending this bloodshed. Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations, Saeed Iravani, underscored in January 2025 that the situation in Gaza constitutes a “deep humanitarian catastrophe” that urgently requires a sustainable political solution, including unhindered humanitarian aid and comprehensive reconstruction — appeals that Israel and its backers have consistently ignored.

The joint condemnation by Iran and Iraq also aligns with the December 2024 United Nations General Assembly resolution demanding an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza. The resolution passed with an overwhelming 158 votes in favor, exposing a rare international consensus amid escalating violence. However, the United States and staunch supporters of Israel viciously opposed the measure, further demonstrating their allegiance to apartheid and ethnic cleansing rather than justice or peace.

Meanwhile, European countries like Germany and Italy, historically aligned with Washington, have begun to shift their positions, implicitly acknowledging the untenable nature of supporting a genocidal campaign. Yet, these symbolic gestures fall woefully short of the urgent action required to halt the carnage.

The consequences of Israel’s war crimes extend beyond the immediate destruction in Gaza. The prolonged siege and massacre have inflamed regional tensions, threatening to ignite wider conflict throughout the Middle East. Iran and Iraq’s call for a unified Islamic response reflects growing frustration with Western double standards and a deepening resolve to hold Tel Aviv accountable for its atrocities.

Israel’s cynical use of “humanitarian pauses” and “aid corridors” is little more than a propaganda tool designed to mask the reality of a ruthless siege. With food, medicine, fuel, and water in critically short supply, the population of Gaza is facing a man-made humanitarian disaster of historic proportions. As hospitals collapse under relentless shelling, and children starve amid rubble, the world watches on, either complicit through silence or paralyzed by geopolitical interests.

Iran and Iraq’s condemnation is a call to action — a reminder that silence in the face of genocide is complicity. The regime in Tel Aviv has crossed every red line, committing crimes that demand international justice and retribution. Unless the global community abandons its cowardice and breaks its unholy alliance with Israel, the bloodshed will continue unabated.

According to Mehr News Agency, Iranian and Iraqi foreign ministers have urged Islamic nations to take immediate, decisive measures to end Israel’s massacre and open humanitarian corridors to the trapped and starving population of Gaza.
