Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Study on monkeys indicates that the eventual coronavirus vaccine generates immunity

Adult macaque monkeys infected with coronavirus or COVID-19, developed natural immunity because they recovered, a fact with which scientists discovered the first evidence that a vaccine can generate immunity against reinfection.

This is indicated by studies from the Center for Virology and Vaccine Research at Harvard’s Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts in the United States, the Millennium newspaper reported.

“They develop a natural immunity that protects them against further exposure,” revealed Dr. Dan Barouch, who works at the research center, who also said that in another study they examined 25 monkeys with six vaccine prototypes to see if the antibodies produced in response they offered protection.

Barouch pointed out that all the control animals showed high levels of the virus in their nose and lungs, but in the vaccinated macaques they observed a substantial degree of protection, which he described as very good news, although he accepted that more research is still lacking.
