The Belarusian authorities allowed Russian diplomats to visit Russian citizens detained in the republic. This was reported by TASS with reference to the statement of the Russian embassy in the union state.

“The Russian Embassy has been informed by the main consular department of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry about the receipt of official documents from the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Belarus, in accordance with which the visit by the head of the consular department of the embassy to detained Russian citizens has been agreed,” the diplomatic mission said.

It is expected that Russian diplomats will visit the detainees on Friday, July 31.

Earlier, President Vladimir Putin discussed the detention of Russian citizens in Belarus with permanent members of the Security Council.

“There was a detailed conversation about the incident with the detention of Russian citizens in Belarus. The hope was expressed that in the near future this story would be clarified and the unreasonably detained Russian citizens would be released, ”said his press secretary Dmitry Peskov.
