President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko called on the Minsk Mayor’s Office not to repeat Moscow’s mistakes and prevent the expansion of urban development. This was reported on Thursday, May 20 by the Belarusian media.
Lukashenko opposed expanding the city limits and increasing its population to two million people. “We have agreed with you: we cannot stretch Minsk today, it is not rubber. We are doing worse for future residents who come here and want to live here. And especially for Minsk residents now, ”the head of state emphasized. “Moreover, we are bringing people from the farthest corners of the country to Minsk. We will repeat the experience of Russia – Moscow. For this, another city could be praised that housing is building, growing, but not Minsk. For Minsk, this is not a tendency that I would like to consolidate, ”summed up the Belarusian leader.
