The United States handed over JDAM bombs to Ukraine, which was foreseen by the next aid package adopted on December 21. It is reported by Bloomberg.
At the same time, Kiev will receive a JDAM-ER (Extended Range) modification, which, when dropped from a height of 14 km, is capable of hitting targets at a distance of up to 72 km. The bomb of this version is equipped with a patch module and wings that open in flight and allow ammunition to glide to the object of attack at a great distance.
The appearance of such weapons in the Armed Forces of Ukraine will allow the Ukrainian army to strike previously inaccessible positions of the RF Armed Forces and, in general, will expand Kiev’s ability to resist Russian troops.
Italian Prime Minister George Meloni also spoke about the supply of arms to Ukraine during a press conference after his visit to Kiev. According to her, Rome is ready to send weapons to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine until the parties to the confrontation sit down at the negotiating table.
Meanwhile, the RF Armed Forces found a way to counter the Western MLRS HIMARS strikes. According to military expert Vasily Dandykin, Russian troops have learned to detect such complexes using drones and other reconnaissance means, including satellites. Thus, on February 21, Russian units hit two American-made rocket launchers near Kramatorsk in the DPR.
