“The story repeats itself.” Medvedev summarized the year of military conflict with Ukraine

Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia Dmitry Medvedev writing column titled “Homeland Defense Year” for National Defense Magazine. In it, the politician compares the Russian-Ukrainian military conflict with the Great Patriotic War, and also promises that “Nazism, which again dared to raise its head in Europe, will be defeated.” RTVI tells the content of the article.

In February 2023, in addition to the anniversary of the beginning of the military conflict with Ukraine, Russia celebrated another date – the 80th anniversary of the Soviet victory over the Third Reich in the Battle of Stalingrad.

“History is repeating itself. Once again, we face almost an entire empire of diverse enemies: Ukrainian and European neo-fascists, the United States, other Anglo-Saxons and their vassals”;

The year 2022 has rallied Russians “in the fight against a common enemy” and “finally got rid of illusions about the ‘democratic’ West”; The United States was preparing Ukraine for a conflict with Russia and supplying the Ukrainians with large quantities of weapons long before the outbreak of hostilities. Thus, Washington is using Kiev to “wear down and weaken Russia – its longstanding and most important geopolitical adversary”. In supplying weapons to Ukraine, the United States and European countries faced a shortage of ammunition. “But the goal – defeating Russia by proxy – apparently justifies any expense for the collective West. And it doesn’t care about ordinary Ukrainian citizens (as well as European citizens), who suffer from this conflict more than others The West is not in direct conflict with Russia because Moscow has nuclear weapons.

“Thus far, those inciting the Ukronazis have enough common sense to be aware of it. <…> Although they continue hybrid warfare”;

The Russian military-industrial complex is capable of producing the necessary weapons in sufficient quantities. “It was funny to hear the dreamers of Kiev say that in Russia “the missiles were exhausted” or “the production had stopped”. Reality has convinced them otherwise – they still cannot overcome the shock”; Russia will do everything “to finally establish a multipolar world based on mutual respect and strong ties between the different states”. “Nazism, daring to raise its head again in Europe, will be defeated and defeated.”

The day before, February 24, Medvedev published in his telegram channel a post dedicated to the anniversary of the start of the military operation. In it, the politician hints that in the near future “there will be negotiations” which will become “heavy and nervous”.

“The motives of the main enemies of our country are obvious: to weaken Russia as much as possible, to bleed us for a long time. Therefore, they are not interested in ending the conflict. But sooner or later, according to historical laws, they will. And then there will be some sort of deal,” read.

According to Medvedev, the objectives of the military operation must be achieved in order to “push back the borders of threats against our country as far as possible, even if these are the borders of Poland” and so that “the world finds the long- calm expected.”
In December, the deputy head of the Security Council issued “futuristic assumptions” for 2023. In particular, Medvedev wrote that this year oil prices will reach $150 per barrel, and the price of a thousand cubic meters of gas will reach $5,000. The publication also said that in 2023, the tendency to abandon the euro and the dollar as world reserve currencies. Moreover, Medvedev predicted that Poland and Hungary would invade Ukraine and occupy its western regions. In turn, in Europe, the politician believes that on the basis of Germany “and the satellites that joined her” a “Fourth Reich” will be created, which will go to war with France.
