The Primorsky Regional Court overturned the conviction of Artyom Samsonov, a member of the Primorye Legislative Assembly from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, who was sentenced to 13 years in prison in September 2022 in a pedophilia case. On this subject informed RIA Novosti in reference to the press secretary of the court.
The criminal case against Samsonov was submitted for retrial. Samsonov also changed the restraint measure, he was transferred from the remand center to house arrest.
Artem Samsonov was arrested in November 2021. The investigation claimed that while on the territory of the recreation center “Azure Coast” in Vladivostok, he showed the 11-year-old “an object of intimate nature and provided him with information about his purpose”.
Mediazona * wrote that a local resident and his old friend Irina Safonova wrote a statement against Samsonov. She, her partner Nikolay Koldaev and her 26-year-old son Vladislav claimed that the deputy put a dildo on the beach table in 2018 and began to detail “where you can stick it”. In a statement, Safonova claimed Koldaev’s 11-year-old son witnessed the scene.
Samsonov denied guilt and said, “I never met this guy and didn’t even know Nikolai had a son.” The Communist Party of the Russian Federation called the persecution of the MP a political one and associated it with the party’s success in the elections to the Legislative Assembly.
In September 2022, the Sovetsky District Court in Vladivostok sentenced Samsonov to 13 years in a strict regime colony under the article on sexual assault against a teenager under the age of fourteen (clause “b” of part 4 of article 132 of the Penal Code). The deputy’s defense cited inconsistencies in witness testimony, including that the boy described the deputy “like a sketch, in unnatural sentences.”
